Technology has facilitated good governance.

Good governance is not limited to only cities, it has reached villages too. Our country is a welfare state under which services and schemes will be provided to people by the Government.

The then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and his advisor Sam Pitroda adopted the mission to take technology to grass roots level. Finally, it depends on people’s mindset to accept the change. Nearly 74 per cent of our population is literate but when it comes to computer literacy the percentage is just 6.5. Government’s schemes and services do not reach people completely because of agents. Even today, people approach agents to do their work in government department. Our administration too is responsible upto some extent. People need to change their mindset for good governance. There will be good governance when the computer literacy increases.

PM Narendra Modi launched Digital India campaign to equip all people with digital technology and people will see that 80 per cent corruption has gone down in the year 2025. At certain places, we have issued caste certificate within 24 to 48 hours. Today, the process of making available 7/12 online is on war-footing level.

In our district, 85 per cent people have Aadhar Card. We have started the process of linking UIDAI Card with government schemes like scholarship, grant and the scheme meant for pregnant women. The next step is to have biometric system for ration shops.

Today, villages have only 2G service. Digital services, connectivity should be available at affordable price to villagers. One gets 2G 1GB data at Rs 200 and monthly charges of one broadband connection is Rs 750 which is not affordable to rural masses.
